Tranexamic Acid

Tranexamic Acid is a synthetic derivative of the amino acid lysine, primarily known for its anti-fibrinolytic properties. It helps prevent the breakdown of blood clots, making it useful in medical applications. In recent years, it has also been widely utilized in dermatology for its ability to treat hyperpigmentation and melasma. Tranexamic Acid appears as a white crystalline powder and is commonly available in both oral and topical formulations.

Application:

• Medical: Used to treat excessive bleeding, including heavy menstrual bleeding, nosebleeds, and post-surgical bleeding by stabilizing blood clots. It is often prescribed in oral or intravenous form.
• Cosmetics and Dermatology: Employed in skin-brightening products to reduce the appearance of dark spots, hyperpigmentation, and melasma. It works by inhibiting the formation of melanin.
• Oral Care: Sometimes used in mouthwashes to treat gum bleeding or oral wounds.

Handling:

• Personal Protection: Wear protective gloves, goggles, and clothing to avoid contact with the skin or eyes. Ensure proper ventilation in the workspace to avoid inhaling dust.
